How To Become A Tester

The test server is used for testing upcoming patches and other changes in the game before Funcom puts them on the live server (i.e. where the regular Anarchy Online game-world is running).

If you want to be part of the external testing-team, the first step to becoming a tester on the Testlive Server is to download the AO Duplicator (24kb).

The AO Duplicator creates a copy of your existing Anarchy Online installation which allows you to log into the Testlive Server. Choose the path where your current Anarchy Online directory is, and where you want to make a copy of it. The copy will allow you to connect to the "Test Live" server, by running the "anarchy.exe".

Anyone with an Anarchy Online subscription can play on this test server. There are, however, some important things to be aware of when using it:

There is no Support staff working on this server, and Funcom cannot guarantee your characters' safety. Funcom may from time to time have to do "player wipes" (i.e. erasing all player characters from the server), and they may do things that cause weird results on this server - so consider yourself warned. This is, in fact, a permanent beta-test server.

What To Expect From Testlive

Testlive is a community dedicated to testing new content and searching for bugs in existing content. The community of Testlive consists of people who are willing to help each other out, report bugs, and generally have a good time. It is different from the live servers in many ways--mostly in atmosphere.

You will find many people on Testlive who are willing to help you out with equipment, credits and advice. These people help out because they wish to, not because they are obliged to. We ask you to respect that.

What To Do First

The very first thing you should do is to register with the Testlive Tracking System. Adding yourself to the Testlive Tracking System is purely voluntary, it is not manditory for you to join. Registering with the Tracking System entitles you to take part in the Boost and Reward System, among other things. For more information on the Testlive Tracking system, you can read more about it here.

The Social Channel is the server-wide chat channel which the Testlive Community uses. When you arrive on the Testlive Server, please don't hesitate to introduce yourself to us! Let us know you're new and we'll do what we can to help you get started as a new tester.

Start-Up Help

To help facilitate testing on Testlive, ARK-Bughunters (BH) and representatives of the Council of Testers (CoT) are able to give you credits, assist with buffs and tradeskills, and several ARK-Bughunters are also capable of giving you additional IP Reset Points. Members of the Test Community can also help get you started if you ask in the Social channel if someone can help with credits. You can also ask for help with skill buffs, implant assembly, armor crafting and other tradeskills, provided that someone is available. Keep in mind that this is not a right, it is a privilege.

There may be times when CoT or BHers are not available on Testlive to help you out, and members of the Test Community are busy. Please be patient and respectful of other's time, and someone will be able to help you out when they can.
